The way we search on our Android handsets is set to change forever with the launch of Google Goggles for Android. The new application by Google allows users to search for more information about a famous landmark or work of art simply by taking a photo of the object. The software is not limited to landmarks or art, but can even recognize company logos, tourist attractions or anything else contained in Google’s database of images. Google Maps Navigation comes to Android 1.6
Google has announced that all handsets running Android 1.6 will now be able to get Google Maps Navigation for free.
The news, which was announced on Monday, opens us the free GPS software beyond the Android 2.0 operating system and currently the only handset available, the Droid by Motorola.
The new release, which aims to take on services from TomTom, Garmin and Navigon will, as long as you have a data connection, let you route your way around the US using the same Google Maps functionality however with a more traditional style GPS experience.
The release also includes the new Layers feature, which lets you overlay geographical information on the map. View My Maps, transit lines, Wikipedia articles about places, and more say Google. Continue Reading >>
Dell Studio 17 gets Multitouch Display
Dell updates its Studio 17 notebook by adding multitouch display. The laptop now gets a 17.3-inch multitouch display with LED-backlit and 1600×900 resolution. Starting at $899, the multitouch-enabled Studio 17 can be equipped with Intel Pentium dual core or Core 2 Duo processor, up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, up to dual 1TB hard drive, integrtaed Intel GMA graphics or ATI greaphics card, and optional Blu-ray drive.

The $80 MenQ EasyPC E790 Netbook
The $100 netbook used to be the Holy Grail of the PC industry, and while mainstream manufacturers haven’t touched the price point (broadband netbook deals don’t count) a select number of netbook makers have gone to $100 and below.
MenQ is the latest in the rush for the cheapest machine, and this time it costs a mere $80.
So what will 80 bucks get you? The EasyPC E790 has a 7-inch 800 x 480 display, Samsung ARM926EJ-S3C2450 CPU, and Windows CE. However, if you’re not a fan of CE, Google Android will be getting a firmware update this month.
